Burial choicesThe Crematorium offers the options of scattering or interring ashes in the Garden of Remembrance, as well as offering Family Lairs where a new lair can be purchased and ashes interred, and sanctums where ashes can be placed inside. We now also offer the option of scattering ashes at selected memorials.

ParkingProvides parking for 140 cars with spaces for disabled visitors.

AccessibilityDisabled parking bays, ramped and level access, stair handrail, hearing loop, accessible reception and disabled toilet facilities available. We can offer large print service books and a wheelchair for use and staff assistance if required.

Public transportNearest bus stop bottom of Sydes Brae (0.5 miles from Crematorium). If walking the Crematorium is at the top of quite a steep hill. Nearest train station is on Station Road, Blantyre (2 miles from Crematorium). There are also local taxi companies available.

Service timesService times are available from 8.30am - 4pm. The first two and last two service times are allocated 30 minutes the remainder are all 45 minutes given.

Chapel seatingService area seats approximately 160 with room for another few hundred standing if doors are opened into the lobby.

RefreshmentsWater Coolers are available at Crematorium.

Additional notesThe Crematorium was officially opened by a local councillor on behalf of the Council on the 12th September 2006, however it was open for cremations from the 5th September 2006. The new facility is a state of the art and environmentally friendly crematorium within the quiet and peaceful countryside to the south of Blantyre, with views reaching out to the North over the Clyde Valley. It was the first Crematorium in Scotland to have the FTIII cremators installed and also the first in Scotland to have the Abatement Plant fitted in accordance with SEPA regulations to help protect the environment with the emissions we release into the air.

Cemetery Rules & Official Documents

Memorial servicesThe grounds have a few different areas including the main garden of remembrance which is now split into two sections to allow for both scattering and interring. There is also the children/baby garden where ashes can also be interred. Memorial options are available throughout the grounds to commemorate those who who have passed away with the option now to scatter at selected memorials, as well as the Family Lairs and Sanctums as mentioned previously. A small memorial service can be held for any of the interments/scatterings that takes place with someone saying a few words.
